Evidence of Shawwal Fasting
From Abu Ayyub ra:
“The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:’ Who is fasting Ramadhan and continue with six days in Shawwal, then that’s fast for a lifetime ‘. “[Muslim 1984, Ahmad 5 / 417, Abu Dawood 2433, At-Tirmidhi 1164]
Law of Shawwal fasting
The statute is sunna: “This is a saheeh hadeeth which indicates that fasting six days of Shawwal is Sunnah. Ash-Shafi’i, Ahmad and many leading scholars followed. It is not correct to reject this hadith with the reasons put forward a few scholars in making fast This Makruh, such as fear of people who do not know consider this part of the Ramadan, or worried people will think it’s mandatory, or because he did not hear that, salaf scholars usual fasting in Ramadhan, because these are all estimates, which can not be used to reject the saheeh Sunnah. If something already known, then become evidence for those who do not know. ”

Matters related to it are:
1. Not to be carried out sequentially.
“One of these days (Shawwal fasting-) do not have to be done immediately after Ramadan. Can do one day or more after the ‘Id, and they should run consecutively or separately during the month of Shawwal, whatever is easier for someone. … And This (law-) is not mandatory, but the Sunnah. “

Imam An-Nawawi rahimahullah said:
“The friends we were, say, is the sunnah mustahab, for Shawwal fasting six days. From this hadith they said: Sunnah mustahabah done sequentially at the beginning of Shawwal, but if someone is separated or delay its implementation until the end of Shawwal, is also allowed, because he is still in the general meaning of these hadith. We do not differ about this matter and this is also the opinion of Ahmad and Abu Dawud. “[Al-Majmu ‘Sharh Al-Muhadzdzab]
However, haste is better: Moses replied: ‘They are Following me. My lord, I made Haste only so That I Might please You. ” [QS Thoha: 84]
2. Should not be made if still lagging behind in Ramadan
“If someone left a few days in Ramadan, he should fast first, then allowed to continue with six new day of fasting Shawwal, because he could not continue with the sixth day of Shawwal fasting Ramadhan fasting, unless he has perfected her first Ramadan.”
